follow red offers concept for sustainable events

follow red offers concept for sustainable events

Stuttgart, 12.01.2022 The future is green – that’s what the Stuttgart-based event and PR agency follow red also thinks. For a holistic change in the event sector, the event experts are now offering their customers the Change2Green concept for sustainable events. With a focus on CO2 reduction and offsetting, follow red’s “Green Events” are a holistic concept that at the same time meets the desire of many companies for more environmentally friendly action in all areas. In doing so, the agency is embarking on a more sustainable future for the communications and events industry.

The Stuttgart-based communications agency follow red has developed the Change2Green concept for sustainable events, which allows events to be organised in a climate-neutral way. The 360° approach of the concept includes various strategies to reduce CO2 emissions in the preparation, implementation and communication of the events and to compensate for the remaining emissions through climate protection projects. A certified partner calculates the CO2 emissions that will be generated for a planned event. This value forms the starting point on the basis of which the event teams at follow red develop an individual sustainability concept for the customer and analyze and reduce the environmental impact of the event. From paperless invitations to the arrival of guests and menu selection – with the Change2Geen concept, follow red offers its customers a wide range of options to align their events according to their own wishes and values in an environmentally friendly way. After all, the environmental impact of an event with 5,000 guests can quickly amount to up to 200 thousand tons of CO2 emissions.

“Wherever we can, we try to take measures to reduce the environmental impact. This goes from location selection to transport and catering,” says Björn Borg, Group Head of an event team at follow red and co-initiator of the concept. “Among other things, we are questioning locations, hotels and service providers as to what measures they are taking themselves in the area of sustainability – to name just one approach. Or if there is a good public transport connection or a shuttle service, not all guests have to come by car. This is just one example of how many adjustments can be made.” In this way, the communications agency focuses on sustainability as early as the conception and planning of an event. The emissions that cannot be avoided are compensated for in cooperation with a certified climate protection partner, explains Björn Borg: “There are many different projects that go beyond the classic planting of trees and make an important contribution to environmental protection.”

With the Change2Green concept, follow red is not only striving for more environmental awareness in the event industry, but also hopes for a signal effect: In this way, companies can set a good example with their events and thus set a socio-political signal. Follow red also places this demand for more sustainable action on itself. “We are moving step by step towards sustainability. We are constantly optimising fundamental areas and changing them in our everyday work,” says Ulrich Roth, founder and managing director of follow red

to constantly develop new ideas and event concepts for our customers.” With the Change2Green concept, follow red wants to inspire new and existing customers to move together step by step into a greener future.
